Self proclaimed movie snob here. Haven't seen a movie at anyplace other than an Alamo Drafthouse in years. I dislike lines, trying to find seats together, leaving for popcorn or drinks, sticky floors, and inappropriately loud people. I love picking my own seat in advance, paying in advance, going directly to the theater, being waited on, having a full menu of a variety of good food (one of their salad dressings is the best I've ever had), and feeling like my experience and patronage matters. I've had a couple of events there. Staff is usually excellent. Any problems I've ever had, they've usually apologized and remedied it before I had a chance to mention it. And the only (small) complaint was remedied immediately. The ONLY venue for movies in my book.
How have I not reviewed this gem yet? My absolute favorite movie theater experience thus far. Ample seating, fairy enforced no talking rules and Hilarious shorts that are often times film themed.. my Favorite was seeing IT in the theater and before hand all the clown themed film shorts played. Theater shows older films too. One month each year looks like active duty military are free for admission which is a really unusual thing to find these days. Theater hosts a full bar and taproom. Selection changes and is always ample in offerings. Food is full service to your chair and outside of the pizza (not a fan) it has all been very freshly prepared and cooked. Pro tip the cheese steak is really good.
My hubby and I came here on a day date a couple of days after the release of 'Jurassic World'. In the entrance we were surprised by the Governator and his evil robo-enemy in a small theater, long, dark but once you sit in your spot, the seats are clean, super comfy, with a tray that runs along the front of everyone's seating for your food and drinks. They make your visit feel like a very important guest. Server was very quick, attentive and considerate. Drinks were brought very quickly and everything was catered to the movie on our screen! Very cool. Effects were great, sound was perfect, everything was exceptional! Loved every bit of it. I definitely want to come back here. The prices are very modest in my opinion, better priced than in San Antonio! Overall great experience! Definitely will be back here! Hello, Alamo draft house in New Braunfels!
Best place for us! Catch a movie and have a drink! The later you go the cheaper the movie ! We dig that deal! I crave the popcorn from Alamo Drafthouse , I could eat it everyday, but then I'd have to buy two cinema seats . Never crowded and lots of elbow room. Theaters are adequately sized for the right film showing. Meaning it's not filled or too empty or too small. Just right .
This is my favorite place to watch movies!! :) The staff is always so sweet. I love the food--their popcorn is seriously the best!! AND it's endless! And the fried pickles are my favorite theater snack, mmm. The personal pizza is so good, too. My friend swears it's one of the best little pizzas she's ever eaten (she always orders the Meat-Eater one). And if you join Alamo Victory (their rewards program), you get coupons and free treats! I love me some deals! The seating is the best, too. It seems weird to praise the chairs, but seriously, how many times have you gone to a theater to watch a longass movie and your booty cries out in pain a third of the way through?? It really takes away from the viewing experience. My brothers and I went to see Interstellar back in December, which clocks in at about 3 hours. We stayed seated the whole time without a run to the restroom, and all of our butts were happy!! I have to applaud the servers, because it must be completely awkward ducking through rows and rows of people during a movie. Though, the servers can be nowhere to be seen for awhile, and food can take awhile to come out. But hey, they're always busy. What I also like about this theater is that before every movie, instead of the typical movie trivia and advertisements, they show videos relevant to the movie. For example, when my family and I saw Godzilla, they showed cheesy clips of old Godzilla movies, and even a 15-second scene from Arrested Development when the family impersonates Godzilla, hahaha. It's really cool and gets you pumped for the movie! Though, when I went to see The Fault in Our Stars, they just showed clips of cute animals...nothing involving the movie like cancer awareness, or even the actors, really. It seemed like a subtle insult to the audience's intelligence, to be honest! All in all, I loveeeeeee this place!! Watch out during the weekends, though--it's so crowded and busy. My parents have come here on four separate occasions only to be told the movie they were planning to see was sold out. Even this past month, my dad bought the family tickets to American Sniper online, and we came to a full theater which didn't even have enough seats for us. So come in early, and prepared to snag a seat!!!
